DICKHEAD
by Francesco Urbini, 1536
A FUNDAMENTAL WORK IN THE HISTORY OF CERAMIC ART
Housed in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (UK), the Renaissance maiolica from Urbino has a doubtful origin and an even more mysterious history, having passed through the hands of both Italian and foreign patrons before its final placement in the English museum in 2003.
An extraordinary example of Mannerist art, it is a parody of Italian love ceramics (characterized by portraits of women depicted in profile with a scroll bearing their name accompanied by the adjective “bella”), combined with the Mannerist taste for astonishment, exemplified by figures such as Romano and Arcimboldo.
A COPY FAITHFUL TO THE MILLIMETRE
After thorough research and countless attempts, we are proud to offer you a millimeter-perfect replica of Urbino’s bowl. The only thing we’ve held back on are the firing defects and cracks... those we simply refused to replicate!
The making-of video will reveal the creative and production process, as well as the meticulous attention to detail.
Each replica requires weeks of work and dozens of hours of decoration to create a piece worthy of the finest collection.
